Creativity, relationships and leadership are the components of value. At Value Marketing Systems, we harness these to help small business owners identify unique market niches, create unique experiences for customers in these niches, and become the #1 provider in the niche.

The inspiration to form Value Marketing Systems in 2009 was born from my conviction that few small businesses stay in touch with prospects and customers. The tragic result is higher advertising costs to attract new prospects and lost revenues from low repeat sales. I wanted to help them overcome these.

I observed this happening over and over during my previous 21-year career as a financial advisor. The financial advisory profession is as much about marketing as it is about finance. My partners and I were very successful through sheer persistence. We marketed in all kinds of ways ranging from cold calling, seminars, referrals and more. During those years, I attracted hundreds and hundreds of prospects and converted an average number into clients.

What happened to all the others who did not immediately become clients? Their names were lost in piles of note cards and lists. Contact faded with most of them. Eventually it dawned upon me to systematically stay in touch with them. If I did a good job of nurturing the relationships, eventually some of the prospects would want to do business. And it worked! Staying in touch with prospects and customers led to greater success.

Next, I added unique experiences. People enjoy being treated special and are willing to pay higher fees for special treatment. That was a huge breakthrough in the evolution of my practice. I constructed premium levels of custom service and a surprising number of clients paid higher fees to join. Profits blossomed and the clients got happier.

Now at Value Marketing Systems, these are our major guiding principles: staying in touch and delivering unique experiences. We offer these to our customers and train them to do the same for their own customers. People like unusual and new things and they are willing to pay for it.
